Learning Objects: Participant learning objectives and standards are correlated to the National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) they include: Standard 1 Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity: Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments. Teachers: (a) Promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness, (b)  Engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources. (c) Promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students' conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes. (d) Model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students, colleagues, and others in face-to-face and virtual environments. Graphics, audio, and video: Students will be introduced to Google Earth using Edmodo. Students will be presented with a video on the overview of Google Earth. Camtasia will be used as a step by step guide on the tools available in Google Earth. Students will search the Gallery for images of Hurricane Sandy. Upon completion of viewing student’s will post their overall impression of Google earth to the discussion board. By having the students view the devastation that a hurricane creates I hope will be enough to engage them. The visual of what the East Coast looked like before and after Hurricane Sandy will hook them on how they view what a natural disaster does to the communities that are affected.
